Kaylee Fowler

Program Assistant

K. R. Fowler is Program Assistant at Artists Book House. Fowler joins ABH after having worked as Assistant Director and then Interim Director of Art at Epiphany Center for the Arts, where they focused on curating and executing exhibitions with Chicago-based artists of diverse mediums, experiences, and backgrounds. They have worked throughout the art world, wearing many hats as an administrator, curator, preparator, and art devotee. Previously, they worked with the Wabash Arts Corridor and the Department of Exhibition and Performance Spaces out of Columbia College Chicago, juried the 2022 Artistic Discovery Congressional Art Competition, and served as a site supervisor for the 2022 cohort of the RE-TOOL 21 program, among other roles. At ABH, they will be focusing on implementing the ABH Around Town workshop series, marketing and social media strategies, and helping to organize fundraising events. They will be taking every opportunity they can to attend workshops and staff festival tables, and look forward to connecting with the ABH community there.

A multi-disciplinary artist with a focus in painting and narrative work, K. R.'s practice functions as an exploration of identity and the concept of self within the broader context of culture. Endlessly enamored with learning, Fowler’s work is informed by the ongoing research and study of religion, feminism, philosophy, history, and beyond. They have exhibited their work in Houston and Chicago and are a recipient of the 2021 Aiko Nakane fellowship and the 2022 Albert P. Weisman award.
