About the Workshop
So you want to write for youth and you’re new to the business? Great. But writing stories for kids means going beyond the fun of a great idea. You must grasp the secrets of the industry while also mastering plot, word choice, word count, and voice. This workshop digs deep into the layers that create strong stories. In this course you will:
Learn to write a story that sparks interest
Explore the mysteries behind a condensed plot
Complete writing exercises
Generate ideas for your book or deepen its appeal to editors, audience, and agents
Explore options for publication
About Juliet C. Bond
Juliet C. Bond, LCSW is an award winning writer and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. In 2014, she was awarded a city-wide Volunteer Recognition Award from Northwestern University, the Evanston Community Foundation, and Evanston Township High School. In 2019, she won a distinguished alumni award from the University of Illinois School of Social Work. And, also in 2019, she was awarded a Points of Light Award.
Juliet's first book, Sam’s Sister, was published in 2005, and has sold over 50,000 copies. This book was re-released in 2016. The updated version has new illustrations by Linda Hoffman Kimball. It also contains resources for parents and children and was published in a soft cover to make it less expensive for families and agencies to purchase.
The Jazzy's Quest series started as a collaborative work with her friend and co-author Carrie Goldman. Their third book in the series debuts June 3rd, 2019.
