Our coven is bewitched by the talents of Beth Herman Adler! She’s summoned her Murder of Crows to the Harley Clarke Mansion. We consider it a good omen.

Beth Herman Adler

Beth Herman Adler studied printmaking and graphic design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her first job as a graphic designer for the Field Museum, helped her develop an eye for pattern and shape, drawing on the museum’s extensive collections of natural and cultural artifacts.  She went on to open her own design firm, Herman Adler, which specialized in book design for over 25 years. She now works full time as an artist and printmaker in her light-filled storefront studio in Evanston, Illinois.

An advocate for the arts, Beth served four years on the Evanston Arts Council, two of them as chair, allocating grants and working on public art projects. She continues to work with her community on local arts initiatives.

Last March Beth had an exhibit in Gallery 901 in Evanston. Called “My Covid Year”, which featured her Covid Diary (a 12-foot-long accordion book of collages completed in the early days of the pandemic) as well as her Covid Houses (house-shaped sculptures made from her monoprints). Each month Beth made a different “house”, memorializing the pandemic casualties. She continues to make artist books and unique monoprints as part of her studio practice

Beth has lives in Evanston with her husband, writer, Tony Adler.
