Gather ‘round for a tale that you’ll hardly believe
Starting just after midnight on All Hallow’s Eve
Ghosts and black cats, up the staircase they dashed
To join the pumpkins for a jumpin’ bash
We ghouls at Artists Book House welcome you to the haunted halls of the Harley Clarke Mansion - virtually, that is. The spirits that live here are still hard at work, cleaning out the cobwebs, much to the chagrin of all the resident spiders. These gallant ghosts are helping the members of Artists Book House enhance and restore the building so that it can one day provide the perfect home for education, exhibitions, publications, and events all related to the book arts.
While we’d love to invite you inside, your health and safety is our number one concern. Due to the uncertain climate regarding the spread of COVID-19 and the highly contagious Delta Variant, we’ll be postponing all indoor events for the time being. But don’t fret! In celebration of Artists Book House’s A House, Haunted, our thoughtful phantoms will be giving you online access to their eerie abode.
Each day in October, until All Hallows’ Eve, a new treat will materialize on the A House, Haunted page. Included in this ghastly grab bag will be: artists’ installations in all the Harley Clarke’s haunted rooms; Halloween-inspired illustrations; a spooky story, and more. See for yourself by returning here each day to glimpse the fresh horrors that await. If you’re still gutsy enough to brave the grounds of the mansion itself, at night, be sure to look up at the windows. But don’t say we didn’t warn you...
As it was last year, A House, Haunted is an online Halloween fundraiser. We need your help raising enough money to exorcise the house and transform it into a magical center for book arts. Please visit the Donate page to contribute the perfect potion to our cauldron - cash!
