Saturday, February 8 and Sunday, February 9, 2025

10am to 4pm

About the Workshop
This is a workshop for fiction writers, or anyone interested in creating characters for comics, graphic novels, creative non-fiction, etcetera. Students will concentrate on techniques for building groups of characters with complex interior lives and interesting relationships.

Prior to the 2-day workshop, students will submit up to twenty pages (5000 words) of their work to Audrey Niffenegger by Saturday, February 1st. Writing examples should ideally feature characters you would like to continue working with; excerpts of unfinished work would be ideal.

This workshop will include writing exercises, sharing in-class writing out loud, and discussions of students’ projects. The emphasis is on developing characters and using them effectively.

There will be a lunch break from noon to 1:00. Limited to 12 students.
